Every one of the 10 regions Auto Hauler Exchange tracks posted a diesel price increase this week — the second straight week that's happened across the board simultaneously. No single region crossed our 5% spike threshold, but two consecutive weeks of universal, uninterrupted increases is still notable, compounding on year-over-year numbers already running 33% to 47% higher across the network. (The week before that, July 13, Northeast posted a small -0.59% decline, which is why we're calling this a two-week streak rather than a longer one.)
Meanwhile the weather picture shifted from spring flooding toward a summer pattern of heat advisories and, in the Mountain region especially, wildfire-smoke Air Quality Alerts that more than doubled week-over-week.

Weather Alert Summary

Mountain is this week's top weather risk (41 alerts, 14 severe) as wildfire-smoke Air Quality Alerts more than doubled week-over-week. South Central and Southeast saw the sharpest improvement in the dataset as last week's tropical storm threat cleared (severe alerts down 70-80%). Atlantic and Northeast saw severe alerts roughly double on flash flooding and a multi-day flood watch.
Corridor Outlook

Mountain and West Coast carry the week's highest combined fuel-and-weather pressure. South Central and Southeast are this week's most improved corridors. Carrier conditions remain in a carrier's market across every timeframe tracked, with shipment volume stabilizing after a longer summer slowdown and healthy carrier coverage across major lanes.
What Dealers Should Do This Week
- Build schedule flexibility into Mountain-region shipments for smoke and heat.
- Price West Coast shipments with the 15%-above-national fuel premium in mind — underpricing against that baseline is the fastest way to watch a shipment sit on the board.
- Take advantage of the cleared storm threat in South Central and the Southeast.
- Run every lane through the AHX Market Estimate Tool before posting.
- Watch the Atlantic and Northeast flood watches through the end of the week.
- Don't read this week's universal diesel increase as a crisis; none crossed the spike threshold.
- Factor the seasonal summer slowdown into August acquisition planning.
