Why Smart Dealers Are Rethinking Vehicle Transport

In a recent appearance on the Car Dealership Guy podcast, Auto Hauler Exchange founder and CEO Royce Neubauer sat down for a deep dive into the future of vehicle transport, dealer logistics, and how tech innovation is reshaping the auto retail space.

From fraud prevention to carrier shortages, and faster delivery speeds to cutting-edge new products in the pipeline, this episode pulled back the curtain on how AHX is helping dealers thrive in an uncertain market.

A Direct-to-Carrier Model Dealers Can Trust

Let’s face it: the traditional broker model in vehicle logistics is outdated and opaque. For decades, dealers have been forced to rely on middlemen to move their inventory with little visibility into who’s actually hauling their cars or how much of their transport budget is being skimmed off the top.

Auto Hauler Exchange flips that model on its head.

“We’re not a broker,” Royce explains. “We’re a true digital marketplace that connects dealers directly to carriers. You see the carrier, the price, the tracking—everything is transparent.”

That transparency is more than just a nice-to-have. It gives dealers control over cost, insight into timelines, and confidence in the process, three things that have been hard to come by in the past.

Tackling Fraud Head-On

With growing concern across the industry about carrier fraud, Royce emphasized how AHX’s model keeps both sides of the marketplace secure.

“Every shipper is vetted just like we vet every carrier,” Royce says. “Whether you’re a fleet provider, a dealership, or a consumer, you go through the same verification process.”

Solving the Carrier Shortage Problem

Royce also addressed a common misconception: the idea that there’s a lack of carriers in the industry.

“It’s not that there aren’t enough carriers, it’s that brokers aren’t paying them fairly,” Royce says. “With AHX, the price posted is the price the carrier gets paid. That’s why we’re seeing faster pickup times and stronger carrier relationships.”

By eliminating unnecessary markup and giving carriers a fair share, AHX is helping dealers get inventory moved faster and keeping more carriers on the road.

Royce’s Message to Dealers: Don’t Sit Still

The final minutes of the interview were packed with practical wisdom. When asked what advice he’d give to dealers navigating today’s challenges, Royce didn’t hesitate:

“Stay the course. And don’t be afraid to look outside the box.”

Too many dealers, Royce says, are afraid to rock the boat, especially when business gets tough. But now more than ever, leaders need to challenge their assumptions, examine their cost structures, and look for wasteful spend that can be reclaimed.

“Growing margin is hard,” he says. “But reducing waste? You can do that in 30, 60, 90 days.”

The Bottom Line

Auto Hauler Exchange isn’t just building a better way to ship vehicles, it’s building a smarter way to run your business. By connecting shippers and carriers directly, cutting out inefficiencies, and supporting dealer profitability, AHX is giving the industry exactly what it needs: speed, transparency, and control.

“We're a solutions company,” Royce says. “Our job is to help our partners win.”
